Yoga Pants - Dos and Don'ts

I can't believe none of you wear yoga pants. Hopefully this will help you get out of that rut.

DO
Wear yoga pants. Seriously. They're comfy and you'd be crazy not to.

DON'T
Wear yoga pants to the club, or the theatre, or on a date. They are acceptable to wear around the house, on errands or to class.

DO
Make sure they fit. They should lovingly hug your curves.

DON'T -
Pull your yoga pants up too high, or have them too tight. We do NOT want to see your camel toe.

also
DON'T
have them too loose! you risk rocking the PJ look that way.

DO
choose pants that are looser from the knee down, this more closely mimics the fit of jeans.

DO
pair them with an appropriate top. Comfy goes with comfy. Tank tops and t-shirts are great.

DON'T
wear anything sequined or plaid with them. Especially if it buttons up.

DO
be tasteful. Stick with a simple black, maybe with a coloured stripe around the hips.

DON'T
wear ANY pants, ESPECIALLY yoga pants that have writing across the butt.Seriously. Don't. Ever.

Hopefully these guidelines will help you to be more accepting of yoga pants an an acceptable fashion choice. Too many girls wear their yoga pants wrong and I can see how this may have skewed your personal beliefs. Please take the time to consider my input. The final decision however, rests in your hands.

Namaste.

  1. Oh man, the day after we had this conversation a la Skype I was noticing all the yoga pants across campus even more...

I still think that they are the results of track pants and pj pants with the genetic mutation of spandex... But then I have never worn them, nor I guess have I seen Dawn wear them. So perhaps I ought to postpone final judgement.

    I enjoyed this Dawn!

  2. I do wear yoga pants! I just wear them in the same capacity as track pants... well, that's not entirely true. Yoga pants are my dressy track pants which is why you've never seen me wear them, I'm too comfortable around you ladies :P

  3. D'awws, I take that as a compliment Dina :)

It seems like I am going to have to try and acquire some of these pants so as to conduct my own research... I never did get around to doing some fall shopping.

  4. also! DO invest (a little) no need to splurge on Lulus but at least get the Joe Fresh or Costco ones and NOT the cheapies. The difference in quality is surprisingly noticable. Also, if they're not a little slippery, they're not yoga pants, they're leggings. and there's a difference

  5. I have a Cosco pair and a Lulu pair and really, the difference in quality between the two isn't sooo huge (unlike the price gap :O). I think I wear my Cosco ones more often but that's probably also because I'm afraid of ruining the Lulus...
