Luck

First off a soundtrack to have one while reading (good song stuck in my head and inspired this post)

What brings us luck??

Unfortunately we don't have Felix Felicis, but some people believe in lucky items like horseshoes or rabbit's feet. Many have a lucky item they will carry with them, especially in times when they are in need of support.
Lucky underwear, lucky socks.

For a certain character in my English class it was a lucky toy spider. We had a test on Monday and I sat beside this young man. He was telling me about how the spider helped him on his last test.

Now, being spiderless and not completly prepared for the test I turned somewhere else for the support and luck I needed. The pants. I figure we were lucky enough to find them and they've been worn by some pretty kick-ass ladies, they should help me kick some ass too!

I mentioned to spiderboy that I was hoping that my jeans would bring me some luck. And - here's the reason why I call him a "character"..... he asked to touch them. I thought this was a strange request for casual class acquaintances. "Uhhh...." I stuttered.... " I guess, if you think that would help you?"

Thankfully it was at this point the Prof decided to start talking so I was spared further interactions, other than him POKING ME IN THE LEG.

A friend in the class says he's always a bit strange like that and that it doesn't mean anything, still... what a character.

No news on how the test went yet, but I FEEL good about it!

  1. Dawn... Lucky has some magical property which makes it about ten times more likely to get stuck in my head than other songs... And guess what? It is now stuck... And I have been on a self imposed Jason Mraz moratorium, guess that is over for a bit.

That guy is kind of strange... Lucky spider and desire to poke girl in lucky pants?
    *raises eyebrow*

As a side note, the pants are very kick ass in test/midterm situations, I got a 96% and a 94% while wearing them, and guess who is getting the pants for the next exam period? Huzzah!

  2. 1) If Valerie hadn't commented already I would have said something about that song but wow. Of all the songs... That is all.

2)"desire to poke girl in lucky pants" is such an innuendo I don't even know where to start on that.

    3) It is perfectly normal and rational to say no to creepy boys who ask to "poke you in your lucky pants". In fact, most of us expect you to answer no to this question.

    4) I have lucky underwear and lucky socks and, yes, my lucky socks are my Legend of Zelda socks.

    5) I went to Tuesday movie night tonight and EVERYONE there was raving about Ocarina of Time. It was incredible!

  3. it was stuck in my head!
THANKS for pointing out that innuendo. Thanks. really. He's a bit creepy but not in a creepy needs-to-be-scared-off-by-cat-videos-on-youtube kind of creepy. IN a much more funny kind of creepy.

  4. I approve of the Legend of Zelda socks very much. Personally I always used to wear a red pair with a heart design on them when I was off to a horse show, but I am not sure if that was continuity of wearing black and red or for luck...

And I am glad that he is not as creepy as the communist, it is hard to pull cat videos when the creeper is not on the phone and when you don't have some backup, haha!

  5. Communist? I don't think that's true. Misogynist, yes, hick, yes, nonsensical moron, yes, communist, no.
