COMMENTS IN THE DOOBLYDOO

OMG so it is COMMENT CITY over here at Trouser Trek, all this stuff about boys and movie marathons.
I would like to once again welcome any new readers ( you know who you are) and thank those mentioned for commenting with accurate names! Though you may be confused at first it is, in the long run, a lot easier to keep track of us all this way!

As for the movie marathon I think we should legit start making plans for our winter break! I know we're not home long so we gotta make the most of the time we're given! We probably all have lots of people we wanna see so let's make some schedules folks!
I'm decent at planning things so when are you all home / free??

Folding pants

Don’t worry my lovelies, I won’t get into any details!!
I’m not actually sure if I can say I “folded the pants” as, out of respect for the pants, they were worn very little this weekend. But I mean… I did do the activities thereby implied….
ok ok enough enough! I’m weirding people out! ( specially any noobs who have NO IDEA what “folding the pants” means)
anyways the pants did have a bit of an adventure on Saturday where a bunch of people decided to go bowling! It was my Rez fellow’s idea but he’s not so good at planning things so we had crazy times trying to catch the proper busses etc etc.
when we finally got to the bowling alley it was EPIC! Nice place, black lights and our bowling shoes were PRETTTTYYY BA
So, we started the game with gutter bumpers on, cause we are children :P I was sucking. like…. a lot. BUT half way through we decided to take them off…. and SOMEHOW I got BETTER?? anyone wanna explain that to me? cause ….. I don’t get it.
BUT I ended up winning!!!!wicked.
Soo that’s all for now! have the pants for a few more days! and I mean to make the most of them!

Mára aurë

Good evening ladies (and gentlemen)!

As I was doing absolutely nothing on my Sunday I had a thought. That thought had to do with the thoughts I’d had while doing the nothing I did yesterday which included writing a letter to Valerie (I posted it earlier today so look out!) and watching Return of the King (two disc edition in full screen because that’s the one I have).

As you may or may not have known, I began working my way through the trilogy following the completion of my week of hell for the first time in I can’t remember how long. My thoughts on the whole thing went in a few different directions.

Direction #1 – North

Wow! Even though I don’t remember the last time I’ve watching these I still know them incredibly well! As in, I know them well enough that I am commonly reciting lines along with the characters and making emphatic hand gestures. You would have been proud if you had seen me giving some of these speeches, I’m sure, but so was I! The power and depth of some of the phrases and pieces are not at all common today and the absolute richness of the language and the world is something we haven’t seen in a long time.

Direction #2 – East

Special effects have come a long way in a few years! I remember very vividly thinking about how much more awesome Return of the King was compared to Fellowship of the Ring back in 2005 or so. Now I was seeing shadows around people where things had been removed with computers, I was being slightly frustrated by elusive camera angles in Fellowship, I noticed obvious stand-ins/fakes, and I noticed how the CG versions of characters didn’t move in exactly natural ways. Don’t get me wrong! I still totally appreciate how awesome it was at the time because I can remember the feeling and it’s still pretty darn awesome now but I couldn’t help noticing and it did take up a bit of my attention when it wasn’t otherwise invested.

Direction #3 – South

Seeing Viggo Mortensen in the armour and colours of Gondor, with the white tree and seven stars across his chest still does things to me that are almost indecent to describe. It is true of most of the time he’s on the screen but the first time he showed up in that costume… shivers.

Direction #4 – West

How have we not been talking about Lord of the Rings in so long when it is so supremely awesome? Seriously! Do you remember grade nine? Do you remember a time when Michele was obsessed with a certain elf and his scuff marks? Do you remember a time when Valerie’s first uttered words in our complete presence were from this trilogy? Do you remember a time when Dawn had us and several others over to her house so we could watch the entire extended collector’s edition trilogy in one day? Do you?

The Lord of the Rings is an enormous literary work (in this case I don’t mean the kind of enormous that makes it take up so much space on your bookshelf, I mean the kind of enormous that influence the revolution of the Earth) and the manifestation of these books into a movie series in a way that actually did them some kind of justice was seemingly equal parts miracle and sensation. This story was a massive part of our lives and of so many other peoples’ lives. I understand the great story and phenomenon in our lifetime has been Harry Potter (in fact, it’s been going on for so much of my life that I’m not sure what will happen when it’s over) but I feel like we really have to pay tribute to the story that came first and how much it is a part of what we do now.

Namárië, melda mellyn, tenn' enomentielva,

M.I.A. No More!!!

hi hi hi hi hi!!!

:D

So i realize I have not been posting much at all in the last like, 2 weeks. And for that, I am sincerly sorry. :( But before i head out to the barn today, i decided that i would do a little posty for yall to make up for it!

Now before you get too excited, this post is probably going to be full of nonsensical matters because, as Valerie mentioned in the post previous to this one, not a whole lot has happened to me this week that you don't already know about. :P

I guess the first thing i can talk about is the "Chem Lab from HELL!!!!" that happened yesterday. :) it really was awful. :P first of all, it was titrations. and we did not have the funny little automatic stirrers that we did in high school chem so we had to SWIRL the bloody thing the whooooole time. My elbow has still not recovered.

Also, it was the longest and most difficult lab yet, so we were to work in partners. Luckily, I had Cait with me, which made the whole experience a little more enjoyable. she kept me laughing anyways. :)

So since this lab was so freakin long, we did not finish. Yeah. it sucked. and we were kind of rushing the whole thing too, so at one point when we were using the pipette thingy, for reasons unknown to both of us, it suddenly went haywire and sprayed acid everyyyyyywhere!!! i seriously have no idea what happened, because one secondit was like, just reaching the top of the glass tube, and the next i was screaming and Cait was laughing her ass off. i think the bulb thingy came off somehow, but i'm not sure.

Anyways, surprisingly enough, i did not get any acid on me, except for a weeeee bit on my hand. It stung quite a bit, so i washed it with the special soap, and it was better, but it still kind of hurt. I was texting Andre about it, and he told me to rub some baking soda and water on it, which actually helped a lot. :P Smarty pants. :P

so that was my hell of a morning, and the rest of the day was spent in lecture / on MSN and not really paying as much attention as i probably should have. :P Ah well, no biggie.

So yeah. That's about it for now. I hope you all enjoyed my narrative on my hellish chem lab. I'm just happy that it was the last one of the semester. Now i just have exams to look forward to... Joy. :P

Love always!!!
Michele <3

ps: before i go, i was looking at our stats for this blog, and i was pleasantly surprised at the number of views we've gotten! In particular, i would like to point out that MY post, "One of THOSE kinds of Days" has the most views currently at 37. You can all clap for me now. Thank you, thank you. :) Although in all fairness, Valerie's post, "A Morning of EXCELLENT News" came in a close second at 31 views. congrats on that. :P

I was also surprised to see that we also had people viewing from other COUNTRIES!!! :P lol, exciting, no? the stats were as follows for total page views:

Canada: 1881

US: 20

UK: 18

Germany: 1

Singapore: 1

South Africa: 1

I think that's pretty darn cool. :)

pps: would yall mind if i shared our blog with Andre? i think it'd be a good way for him to get to know us... :P

SQUEE!!!

Sooo i took Dawn's word of excitement because this is going to be a very girly and horribly corny post. I apologize in advance. :)

So as I'm sure you all know, Brenda (i like this whole, making up names thing!! ) and I were supposed to go see Bieber last night. However, she bought the tickets online, and the girl completely scammed her, so long story short, we couldn't go. Of course, we were both a little disappointed, but Brenda texted her friends and we decided to go out to dinner with them instead. Enter the room-mate: Carol, a tres cute asain girl who has the most contagious laugh i have ever heard. After i met Carol, we went down the hall to meet up with Maz (he's sooooo funny) and Andre (the subject of my "squee-ness) :)

So we went to the pub and had dinner and had a fabulous time. All Brenda's friends were super nice and friendly. After, we went back to Brenda and Carol's pod where Brenda went to work on a 6 page report that she had not even started yet, that was also due the next morning at 9. Loser.
So the rest of us played president. For like, 3 hours. with a few breaks in between to check on Brenda and watch YouTube videos (which, btw, the whole lot of them seemed to be obsessed with. they seriously need to find some other pastimes ) :P Then Brenda joined us in our card game and we played for a while longer until we convinced Brenda to go back to work on her assignment and Carol went to bed and Maz decided he needed to go to Metro for groceries (at 3am???) and Andre went to his room to also work on an assignment. So Brenda worked till 4am (soooo tired at this point) then we finally went to sleep.

Next morning, i got on the train and promptly fell asleep. For the whooole hour long train ride. It was glorious. :D But when i checked my phone when i got home, i had not one, not two, not even three, but FOUR texts from non other than good ol' Brenda excitedly saying that she had some serious gossip concerning moi and i needed to text her back ASAP. Being immensely curious, i did right away and she responded with "So what's your opinion on Andre? :P romantically."

So i was all.... umm, he's cute and funny and ummm. yeah. And then she was like, ok good, cause he's totally smitten with you, like huge crush.

So i was like. Dang. Haha, and she goes on and on about Andre and Maz (apparently he also thinks i'm hot... :P) but they've already discussed it and have decided that Maz will "give me up" cause he doesn't think he has a chance since i'm a 'white-girl', and then apparently the whole lot of them were gossiping about it, and here i was the whole time madly trying to keep up with Brenda's texts about it all, while remaining stealthy about the texting since i was in my enviro seminar. :D

So long story short, Andre added me on facebook and we had a loooooong conversation about like, everything.

So i kinda like him. He's very sweet and funny and seems like a genuinely decent guy (Brenda agrees.)
So what do yall think about the boy from TO? :)

Love you alllllll!!!

Luck

First off a soundtrack to have one while reading (good song stuck in my head and inspired this post)

What brings us luck??

Unfortunately we don't have Felix Felicis, but some people believe in lucky items like horseshoes or rabbit's feet. Many have a lucky item they will carry with them, especially in times when they are in need of support.
Lucky underwear, lucky socks.

For a certain character in my English class it was a lucky toy spider. We had a test on Monday and I sat beside this young man. He was telling me about how the spider helped him on his last test.

Now, being spiderless and not completly prepared for the test I turned somewhere else for the support and luck I needed. The pants. I figure we were lucky enough to find them and they've been worn by some pretty kick-ass ladies, they should help me kick some ass too!

I mentioned to spiderboy that I was hoping that my jeans would bring me some luck. And - here's the reason why I call him a "character"..... he asked to touch them. I thought this was a strange request for casual class acquaintances. "Uhhh...." I stuttered.... " I guess, if you think that would help you?"

Thankfully it was at this point the Prof decided to start talking so I was spared further interactions, other than him POKING ME IN THE LEG.

A friend in the class says he's always a bit strange like that and that it doesn't mean anything, still... what a character.

No news on how the test went yet, but I FEEL good about it!

Verb confusion and the weekend

Good evening ladies!

I was cruising our blog for updates and wondering why there weren’t any when I realized something. What did I realize? That if I wrote an update then there would be an update!

My grammar checker said that I was having verb confusion with my use of “cruising” which caused me to type cruising into Google. The typical results for going on cruises in oceans were first and then there was Wikipedia. Apparently the origin of cruising is exclusively gay and one-night stand material. Hmm…

Maybe my verb is really bisexual but Microsoft Word just doesn’t understand.

I had a lovely weekend! Valerie and I hung out in Guelph for the better, better meaning greatest amount of awesome instead of greatest amount of time, part of Friday and most of Saturday. We saw Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1… twice!

Awesome? Yes!

Awesome again? Double yes!

Other activities in Guelph included noms (and I mean NOMS), strolling around town, and shopping for last minute costume stuff. We had to pick Valerie up a tie and vest so she’d look the part of private school attendee. The tie was relatively easy and is extraordinarily spiffy which I am a tiny bit jealous of. The vest was a bit harder but we did end up finding one. I would also like to say that the guy in Tip Top Tailors was very nice to us, even considering how strange it might have been to see us in there.

I was sad to leave on Saturday after only being in Guelph for a day but I had a lot of homework to do and needed to get on with doing it. Doesn’t that suck? I had just finished what was supposed to be the ultimate of all ultimate sufferings the week before but nope, there was still an assignment due on Monday so I had to do that. I can’t say I’m really upset about it because last weekend contained so much awesome I’m surprised it could be contained within one weekend but it would have been nice to get a few more hugs in before I had to leave. I miss hugs…

Valuable information on Mr. Lively was figured out today in organic chemistry! He is, in fact, a Harry Potter fan! Huzzah! He has read all the books and is really excited to see the movie sometime soon! Is it weird when you find the fact that someone shares your fandom a turn-on? If it turns out that he speaks Sindarin or Quenya he might find himself pressed firmly against the nearest possible surface without any hope or will to escape.

That last sentence was a bit of an exaggeration. Closer to the truth would be that I would embarrass myself by drooling all over my desk. Oh grade eight; I will never forget thee…

Until next time, I give you an enormous Titanic full of love each so that it may sink straight (or lesbian/gay/bisexually) into your heart!

Ciao,

Dina

AWESOME!

Helllloooo LADIES! (In the "I-think-I'm-the-shiz-so-you're-going-to-love-me-voice")

The title is a single word description of the movie that Valerie and I saw.

I think it's safe to say that I am truly impressed and that this is the best one to date. (Valerie is not quite willing for this proclamation of title but she's willing to admit that the impressed part goes without saying).

I noticed in the credits that J.K. Rowling is actually listed as a writer of the screenplay this time around. All I can say to that is thank god!

I stand by what I said in the trailer, it was horribly cruel of those filmmakers to keep us waiting all the way until July for the second part but I can now say that I'm a lot less worried about the end of the series. It will be sad and it will be a new and slightly world-tilting experience to have the entire thing over with but it will be done well; it will be as it was meant to be.

That was a bit of a serious a tone for this blog... Let's lighten it up a bit.

While we waited outside for an hour and a half to get into the theatre the guy in line behind us had this to say:

"If I had to choose between a retarded vampire and a jacked up werewolf I would obviously choose the werewolf!"

Love ya'll!

oh hot damn, this is my jam.

Hello lovely ladies!
As you all know by now I have had the pants since Wednesday and I'll have you know they've been on some lovely excursions already.

Today I went to the mall with some of my gorgeous podmates. and where did we shop on our girls only trip you may ask? oh you know.... just Jacob. And what did we buy? Oh you know... just lingerie.
Sales are amazing. Still spent WAAAY too much and should not spend another penny on myself until after Christmas but it was SOOOOO worth it! Three new bras, five new pairs of panties, creating four smoking new sets of lingerie.
Then one podmate treated to Starbucks! how cool!
Though walking through the mall, with my Jacob bag, my Starbucks and of course my Coach purse (Thanks Dina!) I couldn't help but feel a bit like... well a label-obsessed prep.
Then I decided that was silly and I turned that feeling into confidence. I'm currently wearing some new articles and I feel GREAT!

In other news Dina and Valerie will be seeing HP today and I will tomorrow!! Michele you'd better let us know when you've seen it so we can all exclaim loudly about it!

In Light of Upcoming Events...

Avada Kedavra: It means "No Harry's!"

:D

Enjoy!

My letter to Dawn

Hello there Dawn!

I need pens... yes. Wow, pens is only one letter – I’m tired.

I am super busy and am going to be reaching the limit of too much stuff for my brain to do at once and too many things to work on in a matter of hours. Not fun.

Of course the problem might be that I’ve gone to two rounds of basketball this weekend but it was a tonne of fun. I really should have just joined a band as a tambourine player right out of high school. That would have been a very successful career choice, don’t you think?

So, I wore the pants basically everyday that I had them. The only exceptions were my disgusting lab Tuesday and some weekend days where I only wore my PCVS trackies.

I can’t really believe I’m writing this now but if I don’t write it now I probably just won’t because I will get so busy. As it is it’s going to be hard to make myself stand in line at the post office on Monday to send this off but I’ll do it!

The pants sat beside Mr. Lively six times and occasionally exchanged little pant kisses with his jeans. The pants sat on bleachers for eight hours and the bum in them was rather sore after that time. The pants wrote a microbiology midterm and a cognitive science midterm. The pants went with me to a “lunch with a friend” that said friend wanted to be a date and there was much awkwardness. The pants have written two organic chemistry lab reports and done one geophysics assignment. The pants have flirted with Americans, lesbian, hockey players and destiny (that last because it sounds epic.) The pants have watched “The Holiday” twice. The pants remember the fifth and the eleventh of November. The pants tripped at unfortunate moments. The pants dropped a cow bell from the top of the bleachers to the floor. The pants lived in a basement.

I lost something.... in your pants.
I studied something.... in your pants.
I learned something new.... in your pants.
I performed a random act of kindness.... in your pants.
I caused a reaction.... in your pants.
I implied that I would do sexual favours.... in your pants.
I learned about ground penetrating radar.... in your pants.
I sat on a stick.... in your pants.
I experienced Explosion Wednesday.... in your pants.

I think that’s enough “.... in your pants” jokes. I could probably do a bunch of “that’s what she said” jokes too but I won’t.

Wait! One more! I worked my hand on the stick shift in your pants!

Okay, that’s got to be it.

Can I just say that writing this letter feels rather repetitive as I have already sent you a letter this year which you haven’t responded to yet (as in, at this moment I have not received a response). Do you recall how many letter we sent back and forth last year? I was in university last year but I made the time to write to you whenever I got a letter. You better not make this long wait thing a habit! I will get frustrated.

Hmm... what would I have written on the pants?

Can I say that I’m really impressed with the quality of the pants? Even though I wore them basically every day they never stretched out of shape or bagged and even though I and the tallest of the four they were still adequately long... awesome.

It’s late now and I want to read fanfiction and then go to bed, as per my normal routine. I’m too tired for my brain to think of awesome things.

How about a sneak peek at my latest work of fiction??

Amy moaned with the first brush of his tongue against hers and revelled in the press of his body on hers, the strong grip of his hands on her wrists and the sheer presence of him so close to her. Sensing that she was no longer going to raise any protests he softened his grip on her wrists and let his hands travel down the curves of her body, one of them finding a hold in her disordered hair while the other wound around her waist in an attempt to pull their bodies even closer together.

That’s all you get for now!!

I would write “There is no certainty, only opportunity” on the pants, in honour of November 5th and because it’s true and we need to make use of the many opportunities that are presented to us.

Wisdom addition complete!! Letter complete! Sleep about to commence!

Enjoy the pants. Wear them well.

Much love,

Dina

Things I have

More accuratly titled "things I have and love to death"

commencing with #1 - tickets to see Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part one!!! I am going on Saturday at 3 pm so if anyone sees it before then DON"T TELL ME ANYTHING OR I"LL SLAP YOU! Even though you're all hours away I *will* find a way to slap you. I have connections you know.
#2 - Amazingly Brilliant friends. You all know that of course so there is no need to remind you. But It's fun to remind you sometimes. I love you all so much! I have lots of other friends here too but you will forever be my core four and in a special place in my heart. Your little quirks of fantastic make me smile every time I re-read this blog or your fb posts, or text messages, or letters, or  anything that reminds me of you! and there are a lot of things.
#3  - the thing you've all been waiting to hear this entire time.......
THE PANTS!
looking slightly more loved than the first time around, bums will do that to pants. They have some fraying around the ankles  and butt pockets as well as some love everywhere else. They smell like clean things and also a bit like shopping bags. I presume this is what Dina's room smells like?
On the note of Dina she wrote me a beautiful, hilarious and TAUNTING letter which I will share when I have some time.

For now It's time to get my butt into your pants and spread some love!

Stop using taps!

Good evening ladies,

Oh dear, it really is this week isn’t it? I really shouldn’t be writing this should I?

Life is stressful. Yes, it is.

Today is a Monday and that kind of sucks. Like most Mondays, today was a day that should have sunk into the weekend but instead had to full out declare itself a member of the working week. Not cool.

This morning I handed in the first of many things to be handed in this week when I entered my geophysics class. Surprise of the day in that class was that the guy who plays the bass drum with the band and who had surprised me at the basketball games by making Eddie Izzard references is in my class! Whoa! How did I not notice before?

(The reference that was made was about hot and cold water and mice. Check it out.)

My new favourite sandwich from Tim Horton’s in the BLT. It’s been around forever but I hadn’t actually eaten one until Saturday and they are delicious. That is all.

Organic chemistry is looking brighter now, not because it’s any less difficult, but because we now have the light on full in the room so it looks less like a bottomless pit of despair and more like a classroom. Unfortunately, Mr. Lively was either sick today or has dropped the class so I did not get to enjoy his company. It kind of figures that the day the pants leave me is the day my daily dose of smiles does, too, and that the day that both of these things happen is on the Monday that rudely begins my week of hell.

Angst, angst, angst.

Microbiology started with an advert for a dance going on this Friday that has a Phantom of the Opera theme. It makes me super happy that they even have this going on but at the same time a little sad that it’s not on a different weekend. As awesome as attending a Phantom of the Opera ball would be-

DEATHLY HALLOWS!

Yeah, that pretty much sums it up.

I think I totally nailed another social psychology test today so that’s good. Hopefully the same can be said about the paper that I have yet to write for that class.

Ooo! More on organic chemistry! I went up to my professor, who is renown throughout the land as being one of the hottest professors, and asked about one of the questions for my lab tomorrow. She looked through my lab book to see what questions I had answered before saying “Well, it’s related to the last question so you should follow that”. She knew I had not answered the last question. I have no idea what the answer to that last question is.

%^*&%@^*!

I just realized I’ve been spelling “whoa” wrong my entire life. Learning…

I’m going to go stick my nose in a textbook now. Enjoy your lives in the fresh air. I think I’ve forgotten what it tastes like. Could I be any most annoyingly self-absorbed? Maybe if I had a vampire boyfriend…

Much love,

Dina

P.S. The pants are now on route to Dawn. I will be posting my letter to her and the details of my pants related activities contained therein when she types it up for me. :)

Cows.

I'm gonna pull a Michele here and do a short random post!
My picture on here is a cow....
I'm known for not liking cows as demonstrated in this post.
Irony? Statement piece? We'll NEVER KNOW!!

OR maybe Cartoon cows are just a WHOLE LOT CUTER!

PS - this is the 40th post!

Friday, November 12, 2010

ewwww...

Yet another short, completely gratuitous post brought it you by yours truly. :)
So Enviro just finished early (yay!) and I'm now waiting for chem to start... No one to talk to yet cuz Heather/Cayla haven't shown up yet, but I have faith that they will. They'd better actually because I need help on my chem assignment. Ew.

The second thing that is eww-y about this post is that while I was in my enviro lecture, the girl behind me let out this huuuuuuuge fart right in the middle of the lecture!!! It was so gross, and like right in my ear because she was right behind me!

Think of that time in choir... My reaction was very similar to that event. Blech.

Ummmm, what else... Oh! Justin Bieber! haha, so Brenda went to go get the tickets yesterday from the girl in oshawa, and she brought her walk-home person with her i guess which i thought was a very good thing. :P

Apparently she looked a little sketchy, but was nice enough to her. And the tickets are a bar code on a piece of paper. Yeah... apparently she bought them on her phone with this iPhone app and then you give that code to a guy at the venue, and they print off your ticket there. So i guess we have to wait until the night of the concert to see whether we're screwed or not. :P I told her that if we don't get in, we can just hang around the outside of the Air Canada centre all night and creep on all the 12 year old girls running around and make fun of them... only cuz we're not one of themmm.... :D

lol, ok, i think that is all i have to say for now... I'm going to the Royal Winter fair tomorrow, which is super exciting! :) i can't wait. Loves ya!!!

In class, paying attention

Hello ladies!

I am sitting the my lecture hall gearing up for class number four and already wishing it was over with. I have so much work to do this week it's ridiculous and all I can think of right now is that, if I was home, I would be working on it. Also, this is my social psych lecture and the prof reads off the slides that she posts. Only problem with skipping-there are extra slides during lectures. Grr...

Anyways, I have to go now but I thought I'd let you know that I got an enormous and completely dazzling smile from Mr. Lively before leaving chemistry today. I'm still smiling thinking about it!

Also, for anyone who may be reading this but not writing it, please leave a comment sometime! We'd love to hear from you! If you're having trouble posting a comment, click "preview" and fill out the random word that it asks you about before you click "post". I figured this out while trying to post a comment without signing in and having it backfire in my face. Frustration!

Much love,

Dina

awesome things

Now ladies,
I'm not sure if y'all are familiar with a FABULOUS website called 1000 awesome things.
I love it.

And while it is FULL of awesome and always makes me smile, today I would like to share my own personal awesome thing.

FINISHING THE ESSAY
Yup, you all know how it works. Research, notes, procrastination, more research, highlighting, bookmarking, printing, loosing pages and taking frequent breaks for junk food. You make your plan and find your quotations and slave for hours trying to find JUST the right words to make your sentence sound smart but not plagarized.
and then... in a moment of beauty. You realise it.
Those pages have finally added up.
you've closed off all your arguments.
and you have successfully achieved...

AWESOME!

The truth (maybe)

Good morning ladies!

There is one thing I really must say before I go off on any other tangents:

Valerie, you wrote a blog entry on your break from writing an essay yesterday and called said blog entry “Master of procrastination?”

You were on a break from writing an essay. As in, you were writing an essay yesterday and writing essays is work. I did absolutely nothing besides watch movies, read fanfiction, and try to write another story that I didn’t even finish because I got distracted by making playlists on my i-Tunes and watching YouTube videos. Also, I haven’t even gotten out of bed this morning. I’m writing this still in my pyjamas and my feet have yet to leave the tangle of my sheets since I returned to consciousness/woke up.

I think it’s safe to say that you are not the master of procrastination.

Hopefully I will be more like you than me today and actually get something done.

Do blog entries count as getting something done?

And now for something not so completely different!

My yesterday was a total waste of time as concerning school work but some things actually did happen. I went grocery shopping at 7:30pm because that’s when I finally said “I’m hungry. Maybe I should go get some food.” As I was on my way out my roommate asked me if I would PLEASE drive her across town to get her wallet which she had left at her friend’s house so I said, “Ugh, sure.”

Now there’s something about my roommates that I’ve noticed when I’m in my basement room and they’re making their breakfast above my head—they love to talk to each other. What I didn’t realize is that they just like to talk. I was serenaded during the entire trip with stories about cousins and friends and friends of friends and high schools. It was weird, but in a nice way.

After we’d picked up her wallet we went to Sobeys instead of going to Zehrs like usual. Shocking! Not really but it was kind of nice because when I was at home we always shopped at Sobeys. Also they have more things at Sobeys than they do at Zehrs and I know where most of them are! Hurray!

When we got home, the roommates and I ate pizza and cinnamon (cinnanom) buns while drinking coolers. Then we played SingStar and because of the very limited choice of possible songs to sing—the options were Disney (songs from the movies) and Disney (songs from the little munchkins that work for Disney)—I had to attempt to sing “Introducing Me” a la Nick Jonas from Camp Rock 2.

Yes, I’m surprised I’m still alive, too.

Anyways, I think I should probably get out of bed and start my day. It’s about time.

Much love, as always,

Dina

Internet Wisdom

As I was procrastinating and surfing the web I came across the following. It is long but I think it is worth the read. It's very cute.

I've Learned...  By: Omer B. Washington
I've learned that you cannot make someone love you.
All you can do is be someone who can be loved.
The rest is up to them.
I've learned that no matter how much I care,
some people just don't care back.
I've learned that it takes years to build up trust
and only seconds to destroy it.
I've learned that it's not what you have in your life
but who you have in your life that counts.
I've learned that you can get by on charm for about fifteen minutes.
After that, you'd better know something.

I've learned that you shouldn't compare yourself
to the best others can do,
but to the best you can do.
I've learned that it's not what happens to people,
It's what they do about it.
I've learned that no matter how thin you slice it,
there are always two sides.
I've learned that you should always leave loved ones with loving words.
It may be the last time you'll see them.
I've learned that you can keep going
long after you think you can't.

I've learned that heroes are the people who do what has to be done
When it needs to be done,
regardless of the consequences.
I've learned that there are people who love you dearly,
but just don't know how to show it.
I've learned that sometimes when I'm angry I have the right to be angry,
but that doesn't give me the right to be cruel.
I've learned that true friendship continues to grow even over the longest distance.
Same goes for true love.
I've learned that just because someone doesn't love you the way you want them to
doesn't mean they don't love you with all they have.

I've learned that no matter how good a friend is,
they're going to hurt you every once in a while
and you must forgive them for that.
I've learned that it isn't always enough to be forgiven by others.
Sometimes you have to learn to forgive yourself.
I've learned that no matter how bad your heart is broken,
the world doesn't stop for your grief.
I've learned that our background and circumstances may have influenced who we are,
but we are responsible for who we become.
I've learned that just because two people argue, it doesn't mean they don't love each other.
And just because they don't argue, it doesn't mean they do.

I've learned that sometimes you have to put the individual
ahead of their actions.
I've learned that two people can look at the exact same thing
and see something totally different.
I've learned that no matter the consequences,
those who are honest with themselves go farther in life.
I've learned that your life can be changed in a matter of hours
by people who don't even know you.
I've learned that even when you think you have no more to give,
when a friend cries out to you,
you will find the strength to help.

I've learned that writing,
as well as talking,
can ease emotional pains.
I've learned that the people you care most about in life
are taken from you too soon.
I've learned that it's hard to determine where to draw the line between being nice
and not hurting people's feelings and standing up for what you believe.
I've learned to love
and be loved.
I've learned...

Wicked ramblings

Good morning ladies!

My plan for today involved acing both my midterm and then writing an extremely celebratory blog and possibly some other stuff for fun.

Even though I have done pretty well on both my midterms I’m not feeling very celebratory. I feel like a right lazy slug in terms of any work getting done and more contemplative and philosophical than I’ve been since the beginning of the semester in terms of staring at my ceiling for hours. Prepare yourselves for ramblings…

I’ve been listening to the Wicked soundtrack on repeat basically since Michele and I saw it on Hallowe’en and it has lead my thoughts in weird directions.

First, I’m not sure if you knew this but Adam Lambert used to play the part of Fiyero before he went on American Idol. I was watching a few videos of him as Fiyero on YouTube and, as great as his voice is in the songs, all I could think was that Adam Lambert would much rather actually do Fiyero than kiss Elphaba and it completely ruined his whole performance for me. It got me wondering if the case was the same for the performance we saw.

I appreciate that it shouldn’t matter because it’s all acting and I could just ignore it and enjoy the show but, ugh, being a “mind reader” has its disadvantages sometimes. For me the most attractive thing about any person has always been what’s behind their eyes, any interest they may have in me being the sexiest thing I could see, and thinking that any part of the performance that could have held that kind of energy as being false just irks me to no end. At the same time it also makes me giggle to think of Elphaba and Glinda pining and fighting over a gay man.

Second, in the song “Wonderful” there’s a phrase that goes “They call me wonderful so I am wonderful. In fact, it’s so much who I am it’s part of my name”. That got me thinking about which word out there, or several words, would make up my name if I followed the same pattern.

This also has it’s applications in other geekery besides musical geekery – Ents for instance. Ents have enormously long descriptive names for each other and other things in their language so what would be my enormously long descriptive title? Maybe you can help me out.

Third, the song “For Good” makes me think all kinds of warm and fuzzy thoughts about you ladies.

Fourth, having nothing whatsoever to do with Wicked, one of the things my philosophy class is going to be talking about is dualism which is, roughly, the theory that the mind is made up of the soul and the brain. When we had our “class discussion session” in the last lecture I was surprised by the overwhelming number of people in my group who were quite confident in saying that any concept like the soul is complete hogwash (what a strange expression) and has no place at all in a discussion of the mind.

Really? Being a science major I can completely understand the desire to make things rational and testable before believing but has this kind of education gotten to the point where it becomes ridiculous to suppose that anything is that is beyond what our current knowledge and understanding tells us? Or is this a case of there being “precious few at ease with moral ambiguities” and it being easier for them to think in plain science or plain belief at separate times instead of mixing them up together? Has it become that difficult to accept that our future may hold a moment when science touches mysticism? There have been people who have tried before, notably Dr. Duncan MacDougall who tried to measure the weight of the soul. Can you image in it were actually possible?

Well, there it is – a whole load of rambling and questions. Hopefully you enjoyed it even though it’s not as fluffy and light-hearted as it usually is.

Much love,

Dina

Twitchiness

My finger is twitching. I have no idea why. Not like a Parkinson's kind of twitching (like my daddy-o) but a only-twitching-when-I-flex-it kind of twitching. My mom says its stress/lack of sleep, and the internet says that it is low blood sugar. Regardless, I have a twitchy finger right now and it is Freaky-Deaky.

Just throwin that out there.

Dirty Mad Libs

An Invitation
Please come to a surprise party for Megan Fox on Jan 1st, 2013.
Lots of wet melons and muffins will be served. Please come to the party hungry!
There will be games, such as penis races, and a contest to see who can drive the fastest. We will play lots of songs, and there may even be some thrusting.
The theme of the party will be horny cheeks. During the party, everyone can make a hat decorated with horny cheeks. Be sure to wear handcuffs to protect your breasts.
Since this is a surprise party, please be sure to arrive at least 69 minutes early. Everyone will be undulating in the living room. When Megan Fox arrives, we will jump up and sensuously yell, “Yes yes!”
Please don't talk about the party at school. It would be very hard if Megan Fox found out about her surprise party.
We hope that you can make it to the party. Please bring a small crack for Megan Fox. See you on Jan 1st, 2013!

first snowfall!!!!

My latest blog post...
So everyone else seems to have posted recently, even Michele and she NEVER posts voluntarily!! SO I kinda feel like I’ve been slacking a bit! And I’m supposed to be the aspiring writing.... sorry folks!
It is Novemeber, as Valerie so aptly pointed out the other day and before November was  Hallowe’en weekend!! Who wants to hear about my Hallowe’en weekend? Everyone!?! OK!
Well let’s start with Friday. Friday was supposed to be girl’s night in the pod! We went shopping in the afternoon and picked up a ton of junk food. Om nom nom. Then we went back to the pod and build an EPIC bedsheet fort! We pulled our mattresses out into the pod with tons of blankets. It was SUPER comfy! We had some epic cuddle sessions and watched “Definatly, Maybe” which is a SUPER cute movie, Michele would love it.
Now, I don’t know what y’all know about dorm life, but APPARENTLY it’s not a girl’s night until the boys crash. Which they did. If you’ve seen the photos you may have noted that they also took off a large portion of their clothing. We have no explanation for this, except maybe cough medicine? Apparently it made T.H.’s brain go funny. He was literally batting at our Christmas lights saying they were pretty.
We chatted and hung out, eventually kicked the boys out and got some sleep. Saturday morning I woke up around 10:30 and turned on the lights. This caused some anger because APPARENTLY anything before 11 is early.  “30 whole minutes early” I said, “suck it up.”
Anyways we did MORE shopping on Saturday – I came pretty close to buying a new bra, but decided to put it off ‘till my next paycheck. Frivolously spending paychecks is fun – though of course not an economically wise decision.
Then Saturday night, amid the snow, I somehow ended up at.... dun dun DUNNNNNN.... An Engineering Party. Engineers are CRAZY! It was very interesting and pretty fun but my pod-mate and I didn’t stay for too long. On the way home we had a snowball fight, and I made a mini snow man. Apparently the pod mates who stayed back in rez had built a large size snowman.
Some people of course are less than impressed with snow, winter and cold. But I thought the first snow fall was pretty. And it reminded me of past Hallowe’ens, fitting a princess dress (yes, I too dressed as a princess once or twice) over top of a winter coat. Anyone else have these memories? The worst was not being able to eat any candy on the road because you can’t open wrappers when you’re wearing mittens!
Anyways that’s most of my weekend. Sunday was a lazy day, I went swimming though which is LOTS of fun!
And now it is November. That means there is basically only a month of classes left before exams. That is a little bit frightening but pretty cool too.
Annnnyways that’s all from me.... for NOW!!!

One of THOSE kinds of Days.

Now, before you go thinking, oh jeez, what happened now, it has been one of THOSE days not one of those days. Note the positive emphasis of the caps vs the negative emphasis of the italics. As in, today has been an awwwwesome day. :P

So it started at 8 am when i was just crawling out of bed to get ready for my riding lesson. i was fretting about only having an hour after class to perfect my 15% of final mark bio lab that i didn't complete over the reading week (my own fault, i know). but then, juuuuust as i was about to crawl out of bed, my phone buzzes. Guess who??? Its kevin, saying that he's really sorry, but he has to cancel my lesson this morning. My thoughts? HELLZ YA!!!! not only do i get t sleep in for another 2 hours, i also get an additional hour and a bit (after i sleep in) to finish my lab!!! :D

So round abouts 11:00 pm, i am finished my lab and now waiting till i have to leave for class at 12. So with nothing better to do, i decide to put a little extra effort into my appearance today. The result? Total awesomeness.

So i head off to class feeling pretty kick-ass. I was strutting my stuff with my shades and my sweet outfit. I totally felt like a movie star. And you know what they say about how if you feel like you look good, than other people feed off your swagger, and you actually look good? Totally right. :P I got many appreciative glances today from some fairly attractive lads. ;P

After class, i skipped off to the bio room to hand in my lab, and who do i happen to meet in the hallway, but Brett! Small world, no? So we chat for a while, discuss labs and then head off on our merry ways, me feeling significantly more buoyant than before, and that's saying something.

Which leads me to this moment in time, sitting in my enviro class, banished to the opposite side of the room than i usually sit at due to the prof's ridiculous rule of if you want to take notes on your laptop, you must sit on the left side of the room to "respect those who wish to take notes the 'old fashioned' way." Lame? yes. He's my only prof who does that.

So even though the day is not quite over yet, i think its been a pretty darn good one all around. :)

Now, on to the wickedness that was Wicked. If i have one thing to say about it, its that it was wicked. Like, wickedly wickedness with wobbly wicked bits sticking out of it. ummm, maybe that went a little too far, but you get the point that this play was awesome (a synonym for wicked.) :P

I was a little apprehensive at first because when i opened my program, it said that the 'stand-by' was to be playing the part of elphaba, rather than the main actor person. (Dawn, as our resident theatre junky, what exactly is a 'stand-by'? its not a synonym for understudy, because there were also understudies listed for elphaba...)

Anyways, it turned out that we had nothing to worry about because the woman was fabulous. I'm so serious, she was like, completely flawless. You could even say that she was wicked. Haha, ok i'm done with that now. sorry.

My favorite number by far was Defying Gravity (in all it's belting out high notes, flying into the air, flashing lights glory) but Popular was a close second. The lady who was Galinda was also soooooooo good. Lol, her shoe obsession, hair-flipping, flirty performance was spot on. :D

Anyways, so thats basically the entirety of my play review. Dina, if you have anything to add to it, you are certianly most welcome to.

And lookey-here, i'm stiiiillll not done my enviro lecture... ugh. I guess that means that should keep typing... this has to be my longest post ever. hmmm, what else can i talk to you guys about? There's a girl a couple rows ahead of me doing a crossword puzzle. she's got the right idea... OOOh, there is a girl beside her who has Natasha Hair!!!! I really want to touch it now. But i feel like that might be a little inappropriate. Actually, i think i've seen her before... In chemistry lcture maybe? that class is so huge, its entirely possible.

Speaking of chem, i still need to do my lab for friday. F. ughhhhh, i'm slowly losing my happy feeling. Blech. maybe i should stop thinking now... :(

Yayyy, we're watching a video narrated by Brad Pitt. :D Enviro just got a little more bearable. Its called "Portland: A Sense of Place". Its 22 minutes long and will take us to the end of class. Yesssss! :P ok, i'm going to sign off now and settle into the 'dreaminess that is brad pitt' (my prof's words, not mine).

Love you all, and can't wait to see you soon, whenever that may be!!

Michele

p.s.
Slizzard = NOT JUST A CARLETON THING!!!
so here i was mindign my own business, listening to some tunes, and i hear this phrase in the song i'm listening to:

When we drink we do it right gettin slizzard!!

and i was all, NO WAYYY!!!! haha, so this is where it came from: Like a G6 I'm sure yall are familiar with the song, and you may or may not have already discovered this phenomenon (<-- hardest word of life to spell, btw) but it made my night. :)
